Walking/Hiking Trails

There are gorgeous walking and hiking trails for people of all skill levels. From rugged terrain to peaceful, scenic and easy strolls along Lake Michigan, you can find a walk that works for you. Here are a few of our favorites:

Harbor Springs:

The Little Traverse Wheelway is a great walking as well as bicycling path that snakes through Harbor Springs, Petoskey and many other spectacular communities Up North.

The Northwestern State Trail has more than 32 miles of trails that are covered in asphalt and suitable for everything from walking and skating to snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club is a marvelous place to walk in the summer and, in snowmy months, you can cross country ski on the golf course.

Petoskey:

The Bear River Recreation Area has a lovely walking path along the whitewater of Bear River.

The Petoskey State Park has numerous walking trails through scenic woods.

The Skyline Trail has several lengths of trails along a beautifully elevated path that offers spectacular views of the county.

The McCune Nature Preserve offers a 2.4-mile network of trails that are divided into three loops.
